A record of our ancient Brochs, Hill-forts and Sculptured Stones of Scotland
Brochs, Forts and Stones studies: Sutherland Dornoch Firth brochs
This broch survives as a jumble of stones with some wall faces showing. It is in a Forestry Commission plantation and the timber has been cleared from around the site.
The broch stands above the River Casseley towards the head of the glen and across the river from the road. The outer walls still stand several metres in height.
Salachadh Broch overlooks Loch Shin and the northern mountains are in the distance. The scattered woodland enhances its situation and there is shelter from the wind within the structure.
